Soli Pinot Noir 2022, Edoardo Miroglio

So interesting and nuanced for a Pinot Noir of this price. Extremely pretty ripe fruit character and delicate texture combine with genuine complexity that would be difficult to find at twice this price in Burgundy.

Plenty of red-berry, wild strawberry and cherry fruits on a juicy, accessible palate. Finesse. No hint of oak. Quite fruity on the palate. The tannins are soft and with a fine backbone of acidity too. The pinot comes from hillside plots that translates to freshness on the palate.

This stunning value Pinot Noir has beautiful scents of red currant coulis with tinges of crunchy autumn leaves, woodsmoke, orange oil and clove.

The Maker:

Edoardo Miroglio is an Italian winemaker who set up an estate in the Thracian Valley in Bulgaria. Edoardo searched high and low to find the perfect spot to grow Pinot Noir in Bulgaria, and the piece of land he chose is on the eastern side of the Thracian Valley. The Saint Ilia hills shade the area from the freezing Baltic winds, and a natural lake nearby regulates the temperature. The estate has over 120 hectares and there is careful attention to detail in producing very drinkable and good-value wines. Miroglio purchased the land in 1998 and by 2004 they had produced their first vintage.

Lovely with pasta, risotto, mushrooms, fish and very good with white meat.
