The Wine:
A classic Zweigelt with fine aromas of sour cherry, red fruits, violets and black pepper with a nice tannic structure. Simple and elegant, with bright acidity and cherry undertones. 100% Zwiegelt grapes.
Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10-12 days with pumping over. Matured in 60% steel tank for 18-24 months and 40% in large used wooden barrels.
The Maker:
The Eshenhof Holzer winery is located in Grobriedenthal in Wagram. This is where Arnold Holzer creates this range of unique and characterful wines. He took over the winemaking at the family winery aged just 23 and represents the fifth generation of his family to farm this small organic estate (wines certified from 2022 vintage) in the heart of Wagram. Holzer’s wines are often best sellers, and for good reason.
Their vineyards are dotted around the village of Großriedenthal and the typical löss (clay) soils give the wines a pronounced fruitiness, perfect for making natural wines.
Food Pairing:
Grilled sausages, roast chicken, margarita pizza, tomato pasta dishes.
