The Wine:
An elegant and quintessential Grüner Veltliner: light and fresh with fruity aromas on the nose and palate and the typical Veltliner pepper (‘Pfefferi”) expression. The bouquet is exceptionally fresh and lively; apple, pear and lime with delicate nuances of rosewater, spiced lychee and tobacco. Great finesse and structure on the palate, with full and generous flavours including hints of nashi pear, more lime and apple. Expect incredibly crisp texture, with lively vibrant fruit acidity and mineral notes on a structured finish.

The Maker:
Stift Gottweig is one of Austria’s oldest wine estates and best exponents of it’s trademark grape Grüner Veltliner. Steeped in tradition, the winery traces its roots back to the year 1083 and the foundation of the vineyards clustered around the majestic Göttweiger Berg mountain, on the southern banks of the Danube.
The estate (and it’s well known Benedictine Monastery) is located in the renowned Austrian wine region of Kremstal, famous for producing it’s expressive Grüner Veltliner and aromatic Riesling wines, under strict quality standards as a DAC (Districtus Austria Controllus) area. Producing wine since the Middle Ages, it’s twenty-six hectares of vineyards are situated at the eastern edge of the famous Wachau wine-growing region. At an altitude of 449 metres above sea level, the soils have a wide variety of characteristics and give the wines cultivated there a very special characteristic.
