Producer: Cantine Lonardo
Bottle Size: 75cl
The South of Italy’s answer to Barolo. Spicy, strong aromas of black fruit, plums, burnt black cherries, coffee and vanilla are prevalent. Smooth, full-bodied and complex on the palate this wine displays further secondary notes of leather, game and tobacco.
The family Lonardo has been producing Aglianico in Contrade di Taurasi for generations. Alessandro Lonardo decided at the beginning of the ‘90s to refurbish the small estate, replanting old vineyards and replacing the previous vines with more modern guyot and cordone speronato in order to considerably reduce yields. Lonardo is one of the leading exponents of “old-style” Taurasi.
