Hey guys and gals, how’s it going? You have probably already heard but we are putting on a beer festival alongside our partners at the Brooksteed Alehouse and Worthing FC/Woodside bar. This is something that John and I have discussed for a while and nearly put on at a different saintly venue in the centre of town, however that wasn’t to be. Since we have been working with Worthing FC a little more closely it seemed perfect to work together on this event and so Brewition is the fruition of this.
Why Brewition? Well I just told you, it is a pun of fruition that was used by one of the Worthing FC twitter followers and we thought that would do as a name. It doesn’t really matter what it is called. What matters is it is happening and we want to make it the best beer festival Worthing has seen. This relies mainly on us, but also on you lot coming along and drinking some ace beers and enjoying the day.
The idea behind the festival is to create a modern craft beer focused festival that also brings the local community together. This first festival is a bit of a toe in the water and is not going to be a full example of what we want to create. However, if all goes well we will hold a summer festival which will be much more family focused with stuff for the kiddies and that. We don’t just want it to be loads of hipsters and beardy beer types sipping craft beers and attempting to crash UnTappd. This will become a festival for all.
So beer. We are going to invite around 8 Sussex breweries to come along and showcase their wares. There will also be keg and cask bar with beers from the best of the rest of the UK (in our opinions anyway). We are still working on the beers lists and obviously it depends on what is available, but we’ve already picked up a few beauties for the day. There will also be gins and soft drinks available from the Woodside bar at Worthing so there is something for the non beer drinkers. We are releasing details on the breweries coming along as we go so keep an eye out on all social media channels. Be sure to follow the event over on FB as well and let us know if you’re coming.
Something that you all wont want to miss will be yours truly between the sticks for Brooksteed FC as part of the pub team 6 a side tournament. We’ve got 6 local pubs signed up for this and we thought it would be a bit of a laugh and provide some entertainment during the day. There will also be live music and a DJ set in the evening to accompany your responsible drinking. Street food will also be available throughout the day and we’ve got some awesome vendors coming down so be sure to come down hungry.
So tickets are currently available via Eventbrite or on the Bottle & Jug website. We will soon have physical tickets for sale in the shop, pub and at the club. Tickets are £5 and you will get a program and festival glass (firm plastic one – health and safety) included in the cost. No token nonsense either. Bring cash and cards as all the bars will be operating on that basis.
So come down, enjoy some great beers and watch some football and music and stuff your faces. We want Brewition to become a regular on the Worthing beer scene calendar and we need your support to make that happen.
